Artistic Profile.

In 1971, a dear friend of mine gave me a monograph on Pablo Picasso, it was love at first sight and from that moment on I began to take an interest in the Catalan artist more and more. In particular to the pink period, to the blue period but, above all, to his synthetic cubism and his analytic cubism.

70s - 80s

My 70s and 80s are characterised by compositions that capture the new aspects studied from various perspectives and concern figures, landscapes and still-lifes. Figures often outlined in black (ivory black). From this period remains a chromaticism of warm colours, made of earth and ochres. From the compositional point of view in all external subjects there is always a cloud, also surrounded by black, often with triangular quills of Cubist memory. The Architectural Degree in Florence along with the first work experiences before the definitive return to my hometown Manfredonia (1984) marked a very important stage for my growth and my relationship with the Apulian (Puglia) territory.

90s - 00s

At the beginning of the 90s the figuration becomes essential, the colours more ironed and with clear backgrounds. The subjects, especially still-lifes and landscapes, are immersed in a dreamlike imagination. Almost unreal, this synthetic compositions are represented in a metaphysical key. This is my period with cadmium yellow and cadmium yellow-orange, which will accompany me from there on. Hence the growing curiosity towards the archaeological reality of my territory lead me to the study of the famous Stele Daunie, stone slabs of the IX-IV century. B.C. The unique symbolism of these steles prompted me to deepen the historical studies and researches from which in the 1990s and 2000s several artworks on canvas, on ceramics and in engraved Apricena stone were made.

2010 - 2020

Since 2010 my research has extended to the use of poor materials (such as twine, cardboard, wood) and therefore to the use of mixed techniques, always accompanied by the presence of my "trademark" represented by the cloud. Currently my passion for historical-artistic studies and research on the symbolisms and graphics of the Dauni and Camuni (ancient Italic peoples from the north centre-east) has made me particularly interested to the study the Aboriginal art techniques and language.

In all these years my reference teachers have been different, some examples are Tommaso Adabbo (my first mentor), Franco Troiano (longtime friend and student of Renato Guttuso), Gerardo Gerardi (former teacher at the Brera Art Academy in Milan) and Vittorio Maria di Carlo (neo-cubist artist, who passed away not long ago).
